2023 AFCON: These Are The First Players To Report To Super Eagles Training Camp

Most of the invited players are already at the Super Eagles 2023 AFCON camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, which formally commenced today.

According to information obtained by Naija News, the Super Eagles’ head coach, José Peseiro, and his coaching staff arrived at the 2023 AFCON camp first.

Subsequently, Joe Aribo, who presently plays for Southampton in the English Championship, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, and Ola Aina, who all play for Fulham in England, arrived.

The players and coaching staff stated above arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, and it is anticipated that they will start training today, January 3. The training session will continue through January 9.

Following the training camp, they will take a Tuesday flight to Lagos before arriving in Abidjan on Wednesday, January 10, for the actual event.

To get ready for the competition, the Super Eagles are anticipated to play two friendlies in Abu Dhabi before to that day. The aforementioned friendly matches are against Cape Verde and Burkina Faso.

The dates and kickoff times of the friendly matches, which are anticipated to take place behind closed doors, have not been released as of this writing.

The Super Eagles will have roughly four days to prepare for their opening match of the 2023 AFCON against Equatorial Guinea in Group A at the Ebimpe Olympic Stadium on January 14.

They will meet the tournament hosts, Ivory Coast, in the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé on January 18, four days later. On January 22, the Eagles play their final group round matchup against Guinea Bissau.
