AFCON 2023 Will Not Be Broadcast by SuperSport – Multichoice

The parent firm of DStv, Multichoice, declared on Wednesday that it would not be allowed to broadcast the 2019 African Cup of Nations competition on its platform.

The business blamed its failure to get SuperSport stations to air the best football tournament on the continent.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023, which is slated to take place from January 13 to February 11th, 2–24, will not be shown by SuperSport station because the station has not obtained the broadcast rights.

“Furthermore, Free to Air (FTA) channels operated by our partner broadcast stations will host AFCON 2023 games.

“The Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Zambian Super League, and many more of football’s most prestigious competitions are among the entertainment and football games available on DStv and GOtv platforms that Multichoice Africa is committed to ensuring football fans across Africa continue to enjoy,” the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

Ivory Coast will host the 34th AFCON opening ceremony on January 13.

Nigeria, a three-time champion, will face off against the host nation, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea in Group A, according to Naija News.

The Eagles will play Equatorial Guinea on January 14 to start their Group A campaign in an attempt to win their fourth continental championship. They will play the host country, Ivory Coast, on January 18 and Guinea Bissau on January 22 in the following matches.
