Just hours after announcing the firing of head coach Ron Rivera, NFL Network reported that the team has requested interviews with Detroit Lions coordinators Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson.
.
“Today, we have made the decision to part ways with Ron Rivera,” owner Josh Harris said in a statement.
I want to thank you for everything you have done.

He is a good person and a thoughtful leader who has made positive contributions to this organization and the NFL.
I wish the Rivera family all the best for the future.
” After a disappointing 4-13 season, Harris decided to form an advisory committee to oversee the coaching search.
Former Vikings general manager Rick Spielman and former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers are among the leaders of the new leadership group.
“I, along with my partners, have assembled a small advisory committee to help identify his two key roles for this organization: director of football operations and head coach,” Harris said.
“I have asked Mitch Rayles, Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, David Blitzer, and Bob Myers and Rick Spielman to join an advisory board that will work with me to make the best decisions for the franchise.
Both Johnson and Glenn led the Lions to their first playoff appearance since 2016 and are considered the league’s top candidates for future head coaching positions.
