Detroit Lions’ Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn have been approached by Washington for head coaching interviews.

Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn have already been in high demand since the day after the regular season ended.
The Washington Commanders fired head coach Ron Rivera on Monday and requested interviews with both Lions’ coordinators, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.                        Pelissero said Monday morning, “Commanders are wasting no time: Sources say they have requested interviews with Lions OC Ben Johnson and DC Aaron Glenn for the head coaching job.

The Lions finished with a 12-5 record, tying the franchise record for most regular season wins.
They will host the Los Angeles Rams in a wild card game on Sunday night.
Johnson, 37, returned to the Lions last January after garnering head coaching interest following his first season as the team’s coordinator under head coach Dan Campbell.
Campbell then took over the passing game coordinator job in 2021 after he relieved coordinator Anthony Lynn of game-calling duties.
Johnson interviewed virtually last year with three teams: the Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts, and was considered one of the top coaching candidates on the market.
He was reportedly one of the front-runners in the Carolinas, but has since withdrawn.

Glenn, 51, is a longtime cornerback in the NFL and interviewed with the Colts last year, but was interviewed by Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen.
Glenn is in his third season as Campbell’s D coordinator.
