Lakers Injury Report: Ailing LA Role Player Upgraded For Toronto Clash

Ahead of your Los Angeles Lakers’ matchup Tuesday against the Toronto Raptors, it appears the club is healing. And not a moment too soon! Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN, power forward Rui Hachimura has seen an uptick in his health status. The 6’8″ Gonzaga product has been grappling with a left calf strain for the last week and change. He has yet to play in 2024, having gotten hurt after just 7:36 of action in LA’s 129-109 New Year’s Eve loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

McMenamin, in recapping LA’s latest injury report, has indicated that All-Stars LeBron James (left ankle peroneal tendinopathy) and Anthony Davis (left ankle sprain/bone bruise) have unfortunately seen their statuses downgraded, to questionable and probable, respectively. Reserve point guard Gabe Vincent remains on the shelf as he recovers from a knee surgery to address a lingering left knee effussion.

Across 25 games this season, Hachimura is averaging 11.5 points on .485/.368/.760 shooting splits, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 dimes, and 0.7 steals per bout. Prior to his injury, LA head coach Darvin Ham indicated that he intended to start Hachimura long-term. In his absence, small forward Cam Reddish has returned to the Lakers’ first five. Presumably, Ham’s intended starting lineup is as follows: Austin Reaves at the point, Taurean Prince at shooting guard, All-NBA superstar LeBron James, Hachimura and All-Star Anthony Davis.

Mo Bamba has been evaluated by Lakers team doctors and has been diagnosed with a high left ankle sprain. He will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks.
