Horns loses RB as the case of dangerous…….

teve Sarkisian and his staff made major headlines this offseason in their efforts to boost the talent on the Texas roster.  The Longhorns used both the 2022 recruiting cycle and the transfer portal to their advantage, creating some real momentum heading into the 2022 season. Perhaps the biggest fish Texas landed is former five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers.  The Ohio State transfer is back in the state of Texas after spending his redshirt freshman season in Columbus, and Texas faithful could not be more excited. He is one of two quarterback to earn a perfect 1.0000 prospect rating out of high school. The other was Longhorn legend Vince Young.  Ewers enters fall camp in a quarterback battle with redshirt sophomore Hudson Card who had an up-and-down 2021 season.  Quinn’s exceptional arm talent makes him a great fit for Sarkisian’s attacking style of offense. Here is a look at Ewers arriving for his first fall camp as a Longhorn.

With the recent rumors surrounding star quarterback Quinn Ewers’ decision to return to Texas in 2024 rather than enter the NFL draft, there is rising speculation from those outside the program that Arch Manning could hit the transfer portal.

There is no logical reason that Manning would enter the portal, seeing as his family knew when he committed to Texas that it would take time to develop. In a recent Sports Illustrated interview, Archie Manning shared that Arch is happy to play for the Longhorns.

According to Archie, the best case for Arch to find success would be to take Eli Manning’s route in college.

“Eli had what I think is the best course. He redshirt his first year, was a backup in his second year, and then started in his third year. I think it’s a big jump.”

That now appears to be Manning’s most likely path to take with Texas.

Entering their first season in the SEC next year, the Longhorns would greatly benefit by retaining Ewers while Manning serves as his backup. Maalik Murphy is the one who will likely enter the transfer portal this offseason.
