Two Teams May Have Already Let Slip Their Interest In Justin Fields.
It isn’t a secret the Chicago Bears will go one of two directions with Justin Fields this off-season. Either they will stick with him as the starter for another year or trade him to another team, paving the way to take their preferred quarterback at #1 overall. As of now, it feels like the latter is the more likely scenario. Things can change, of course, but the whispers are getting louder. If the Bears elect to trade Fields, how it plays out will depend on how many teams are interested.

Reports from national insiders revealed two teams, the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots, have chosen to interview Luke Getsy for their vacant offensive coordinator job. Now, maybe this is rooted in simple interest for the former Bears coach. However, basic common sense suggests those meetings are far more likely driven by those team’s hopes of getting a good picture of the type of player and person Fields is as a quarterback. Getsy obviously coached him for two years.

Las Vegas is in a tough spot. Their only viable quarterback options at the moment are Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O’Connell. Both were acquired by the previous regime. They also pick 13th in the draft, pushing them well out of range of the top quarterback options in the 1st round. That means they must either try trading up to get one of them or explore the veteran route. No question that a deal for Fields would be far cheaper. He’d have a solid supporting cast in place and a head coach in Antonio Pierce who is familiar with how to handle former 1st round quarterbacks. He was Eli Manning’s teammate in the 2000s.
