PREVIEW: CHESTER LE STREET TOWN VS LEEDS UNITED WOMEN…

Leeds United Women return to FAWNL Division One North duties this week as Simon Wood’s side travel north to face Chester le Street Town FC.

The Whites head into the game in good form, after a victory over Brighouse Town Women last weekend saw them progress to the semi-finals of the County Cup.

In league action, postponements have meant that United have played just twice since the New Year, first beating Doncaster Rovers Belles 4-2 at home before being edged out 3-1 away at Middlesbrough last time round.Forward Jess Rousseau has been clinical in front of goal, adding three to her tally in those two fixtures as well as a hat-trick in the convincing cup success. With nine goals in 11, Rousseau is just one behind Hull City’s Helen Lynskey in the race for the golden boot. Results leave Wood’s side sixth in the table, with the team having games in hand on the sides around them as they look to kick on in the second half of the campaign.

Despite struggling at the wrong end of the table, Chester le Street picked up a valuable three points last time out, edging past FC United of Manchester thanks to goals from Rhiannon Gray and Laura Hockaday. Hockaday is the hosts’ top scorer this term with five goals in 11 matches.
