Former LSU star Alexis Morris is getting her shot with the legendary Harlem Globetrotters

Alexis Morris, the dynamic point guard who helped lead LSU to its first national championship in basketball, is joining the Harlem Globetrotters.

Morris will make her debut with the team on Feb. 9, 2024, the club announced Thursday. She’ll play under the nickname “The Show” as one of six women who will tour with the Globetrotters and the Washington Generals this year.

The team said that it believes Morris is the first player to decline offers from professional basketball teams and tour with the Globetrotters since Connie Hawkins, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, did so in the 1960s.

“I’m excited to join the Harlem Globetrotters,” Morris said in a news release, “and want to thank the leadership team for giving me an opportunity to grow my personal and professional career while playing the game I love. There is a lot to learn from my coaches and teammates, and I’m excited to highlight the level of basketball and entertainment of the organization.”

LSU Tigers guard Alexis Morris (45) carries the trophy around the court following the NCAA Championship game on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. LSU defeated Iowa to claim the National Championship.

Now, she’ll join the Globetrotters for the domestic leg of their 2024 tour, which is scheduled to make five stops in Louisiana cities throughout April.

“The Harlem Globetrotters have a storied history of signing some of the world’s most accomplished and coveted talent: Wilt Chamberlain, Connie Hawkins, ‘Curley’ Neal, Lou Dunbar, Lynette Woodard and now, Alexis Morris,” Globetrotters president Keith Dawkins said.
