“The Miami HEAT have, in consultation with the NBA, suspended Dewayne Dedmon for one game without pay for conduct detrimental to the team for actions that took place in the bench area of last night’s game vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder,” the message read.

Dedmon got into a heated argument with the coaches after being substituted during Tuesday night’s game, and he then threw a massage gun onto the court during play, according to ESPN.

The sports news source was able to film something that looked like a massage pistol being thrown over a bench and onto the court. Later on, the announcer for the game reported he was kicked out of the game.

Dedmon seemed to run into something else as he was leaving.

After substituting seven players in the final 33 minutes, the Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 112-111.

Dedmon, who makes $4.7 million this season, will forfeit $32,414 because he won’t be compensated for the game on Thursday, according to ESPN.

The Associated Press reports that starting center Bam Adebayo will start for the Heat against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night in Dedmon’s place. Adebayo was out for Tuesday’s evening game due to an injury, which also affected six other players.

In 29 games this season, Dedmon has averaged 5.9 points and 3.7 rebounds. The game on Saturday, which is also against the Bucks, is the next one in which he can play following his ban, according to the AP.

In a YouTube-shared post-game press conference, veteran Heat coach Erik Spoelstra responded to Dedmon’s conduct shortly after he was ejected.

“That’s the Miami Heat,” he responded when asked about the sequence of events surrounding Dedmon. Spoelstra added, “We’re all just a bunch of prickly personalities.” “It was a regrettable portion. Everything that came before it was the Miami Heat. That was a bad part.
