The Argentine was substituted in the latter moments of Wednesday night’s FA Cup replay victory over Bristol City by the Reds. He is not expected to play against the Magpies this evening, although he is scheduled to get a scan this evening on a hamstring issue.

After the strain of the midweek fourth round match, Forest will check in late on Morgan Gibbs-White. During extra time, the attacker was limping about the City Ground pitch; however, he seemed to be moving more freely towards the conclusion and managed to take a spot-kick during the shootout.

The game was difficult. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo stated, “We went into extra time and played a lot of minutes, especially for players who haven’t been involved recently.”

“We encounter some bumps in the road and some troublesome circumstances. Gonzalo is injured and won’t play tomorrow. We also need to continue evaluating some players’ problems.

“Just before we got him off the field, Gonzalo felt something in his hamstring while out for a run. There was considerable discomfort for him. At 7:00 p.m. today, he will undergo the scan. We’ll have to wait and see because he is unavailable for tomorrow.

Nuno continued, “He had some pain and discomfort,” regarding Gibbs-White. We need to evaluate him first.

In addition to midfielders Ryan Yates and Nicolas Dominguez being suspended, January additions Matz Sels, Gio Reyna, and Rodrigo Ribeiro were not permitted to play against the Robins. Nuno still lacks Ola Aina, Ibrahim Sangare, and Willy Boly because the three are in the Africa Cup of Nations on international service. However, the quintet is ready for action on Saturday.

Chris Wood is also not playing because of a hamstring problem. The striker can miss as much as two months of activity.

Nuno stated, “He is getting better and receiving treatment every day.” “However, he is unavailable for tomorrow.”
