SHOCKINGNEWS: Celtic injury update on Alistair Johnston, Cameron….
The Canada international took a nasty one to the head on Wednesday night.
Brendan Rodgers has revealed fears Alistair Johnston has a fracture after his nasty head injury picked up against Hibs.
The Hoops right-back was clattered in an aerial challenge by Nectarios Triantis, resulting in a penalty from which Adam Idah scored his first for the club to put them ahead. The Canadian took a sore one had to be stretchered off and replaced by Tony Ralston, sparking fears of a serious injury.
Those fears remain after Johnston underwent a scan, with the results now awaited. The 25-year-old will certainly miss the Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren this week and Rodgers explained it’s believed he has a fracture on the side of the head and will miss an as yet undefined period of matches.
He said: “We are just waiting on the results of a scan. He won’t be available for the weekend. We think he has a slight fracture on the side of the head. We don’t know (how long he will be out), we are just waiting to see.”
A boost to the Celtic squad sees Oh Hyeon-gyu and Yang Hyun-jun back in contention after returning from the Asian Cup and the manager says they are in top shape.
“They have been away for a period of time but they look fit and well and trained really well earlier,” he said.
