Giving it everything': Michail Antonio posts injury update on Twitter

Before West Ham’s match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (17 February), David Moyes has provided an update on Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio’s injuries.

During his pre-match news conference on Friday, February 16 (via Ben Dinnery), the manager of the Hammers stated that while the 26-year-old Brazilian international is back on the field, he won’t be ready for the encounter at the City Ground.

He continued by saying that Edson Alvarez and Kurt Zouma have been declared fit to play against Forest, while Antonio, a 33-year-old attacker, is back in the team. The Irons will evaluate Antonio’s condition prior to the game.

Before Nottingham Forest, West Ham gets conflicting reports about its stars.

Antonio has been sidelined for a few months due to injury, so it’s encouraging that he is ready to play against his former team.

West Ham has missed having a focal point leading the line and offering a little presence to distract the opposition’s defenders, even if Jarrod Bowen has performed admirably in the Jamaica international’s absence.

Although it’s regrettable that Paqueta hasn’t returned to full health yet, it appears that the offensive midfielder is coming closer and won’t be too long to play again.

“Lucas Paquetá should not go tomorrow.” He’s spent a few days on the grass, but he’s not quite ready.

“It’s Michael Antonio again.” Though he’s in the team, we need to see exactly how he is.

Despite some reservations, Alvarez should be able to start alongside Zouma, the captain, as we attempt to recover from our humiliating 6-0 loss at Arsenal on February 11.
