TX — FRISCO The Dallas Cowboys have cut Ronald Jones loose. After the team decided to let go of Ezekiel Elliott in 2023, the two-time Super Bowl winner signed a free agent contract with the team.As Cowboys head into NFL playoffs with a thud, pressure is on Mike McCarthy to avoid another letdown - Yahoo Sports

Following his two-game ban for violating the NFL’s rules on performance-enhancing chemicals, Jones had a difficult training camp. However, he later had a groin injury that kept him out of all three preseason games.

Jones is not susceptible to waivers as a vested veteran, and he may join with any team in the NFL.

Naturally, it makes it possible for him to practice squad with Cowboys running back Malik Davis, a second-year player; however, it remains to be seen if the organization would take advantage of that.

Though doing so would have required the organization to waive or release a player to create place, Jones was eligible to be activated off the Cowboys’ Reserve/Suspended list.

The Cowboys’ choice about Jones is significantly influenced by the potential of Deuce Vaughn and Hunter Luepke, as well as Rico Dowdle’s eventual rise in camp and the preseason.

The younger players on the team took advantage of the chance presented by the ban.
