Jimmy Butler, a forward with the Miami Heat, was involved in a brawl during a game and was forced to pay more than a quarter of a million dollars.

Jimmy Butler, a forward for the Miami Heat, isn’t going to be pleased with how much money he will soon be losing. According to ESPN, Butler was fined about $260,000 by the NBA for getting into a brawl during a Heat vs. New Orleans Pelicans game. In addition, he will miss one game as a result of the incident.

During Friday’s game against the Pelicans, Butler and a few other Heat players got into a brawl. The Heat were up four points going into the fourth quarter of the match when the altercation broke out. After a Heat player fouled Pelicans forward Zion Williamson, many other Pelicans players protested.

Four players, including Butler, were dismissed from the game as a result of the physical fight and pushing match that developed out of the incident. Butler has the highest fine of any player engaged in the event, totaling $259,968. This is the most recent instance of the NBA using its power to stop fights, with fines and player sanctions coming as a result.

The Heat have other players who are also subject to fines besides Butler. Nikola Jovic and Thomas Bryant need to cough up some cash as well. Jose Alvarado and Naji Marshall, two Pelicans players, also received fines for the incident.

Butler won’t be available for the Heat’s Monday game against the Sacramento Kings. The forward is shooting over 50% from the field and averaging 21 points this season. For Miami, he also pulls down 5.6 rebounds each game.

The Heat have a 31-25 record going into their matchup with the Kings. In the Eastern Conference, the squad is ranked seventh.
