Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff sparked controversy on Wednesday after a clip from a podcast interview went viral on social media, featuring his criticism toward Detroit-based media regarding the franchise.
Several days ago, Goff appeared as a guest on episode eight of the Willbo’s “Trading Cards” podcast, hosted by Robbie and Will McInerny, both friends of Goff (Robbie being his former UCLA teammate). The nearly hour-and-a-half interview covered a wide range of topics, including Goff’s departure from the Los Angeles Rams, his adjustment to Detroit, the Lions’ recent playoff run, and others.
The two current highest cap hits on the Lions’ balance sheet for 2024 (Jared Goff, $32.3 million and Taylor Decker, $19.1 million) are lined up to be reduced by contract extensions this offseason. Future commitments on contract extensions for other key players are worth noting, but not meaningful to a conversation about just this year.
