Dangerous decision: Giants manager Bob Melvin decided that the team should stand for….

San Francisco Giants manager, Bob Melvin, has implemented a new mandate requiring the entire team to stand for the national anthem.

Playing prominent roles for the 30th-ranked scoring offense in the league isn’t the typical recipe for a promotion. But this has been an atypical offseason for the Giants’ coaching staff, so offensive coordinator Mike Kafka and quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney were awarded enhanced titles on Thursday as Brian  staff for the 2024 season was finalized.

Kafka, who has been the offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, will have assistant head coach duties added to his role. More exposure to head-coaching duties should be beneficial to the 36-year-old Kafka, who has interviewed for six head coaching vacancies since the end of the 2022 season.
