Always playing with a chip on his shoulder, Golden State Warriors star Step Curry may be more locked in than ever this season.
Amid reports about he and the Warriors being far apart on a contract extension, Thompson shared a strong message on Instagram with Tupac’s “Me Against the World” and a caption that read, “The type a energy I’m on all season.”
As previously mentioned, Thompson always plays with this mentality, so this certainly may not be directly related to the recent report about his contract. That said, there is now a major added incentive for the Warriors star to have a big season, because this will likely be his last opportunity to secure long term money in the NBA.With mutual interest between Thompson and the Warriors to get a deal done, it still feels likely the two sides extend their partnership at some point, but that may not come before the season begins. This of course adds some level of uncertainty, but it might not be the worst situation for Thompson and the team, as they can allow this season to determine what makes the most sense for both sides.
Golden State has accomplished the rare feat of keeping a core together this long, and certainly want to have Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all retire with the Warriors.
