It is with a mix of gratitude, humility, and a heavy heart that I address you today. After much contemplation and reflection, I have decided to step down from my position as the head coach of the Detroit Lions. This decision has not been made lightly, but I believe it is the right one for both myself and the team.
Coaching the Lions has been an incredible honor and privilege. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to lead such a storied franchise and work with some of the most talented athletes in the NFL. The passion and dedication of the players, coaches, and staff have made my time here truly memorable.
However, as much as I have loved being a part of this organization, I have come to realize that it is time for me to move on. Coaching is not just a job; it is a way of life. It requires unwavering commitment, sacrifice, and an endless drive for excellence. While I have poured my heart and soul into this role, I have also recognized the toll it has taken on other aspects of my life.
Stepping down will allow me to prioritize my well-being and spend more time with my family, who have supported me tirelessly throughout my career. It will also give me the opportunity to explore new challenges and pursue other passions that have taken a backseat during my time in coaching.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Detroit Lions organization, the players, the coaching staff, and the fans. Your unwavering support and belief in me have meant the world, and I will always cherish the memories we have created together.
To the players, I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished during my tenure as head coach. We have faced adversity head-on, overcome obstacles, and grown stronger as a team. I have every confidence that you will continue to strive for greatness and achieve success in the seasons to come.
To the coaching staff, thank you for your dedication, hard work, and camaraderie. It has been an honor to work alongside each and every one of you, and I have the utmost respect for your talents and contributions.
And finally, to the fans, thank you for your unwavering support through the highs and lows. Your passion and loyalty are the lifeblood of this team, and I have been truly blessed to coach in front of the best fans in the NFL.
