It is with a heavy heart that I stand before you today to announce my resignation as the head coach of the Philadelphia Phillies. This decision has not been an easy one, but after careful consideration and introspection, I have come to the realization that my family and my health must take precedence at this juncture in my life.
Over the years, I have poured my heart and soul into this organization, striving to lead our team to success both on and off the field. The opportunity to serve as the head coach of such a storied franchise has been an honor beyond measure, and I will forever cherish the memories and experiences that we have shared together.
However, as many of you may know, the demands of this profession are relentless. The countless hours spent away from home, the constant pressure to perform, and the physical toll it takes on the body have all weighed heavily on me in recent months. Despite my unwavering dedication to the game of baseball, I have reached a point where I can no longer ignore the toll it has taken on my well-being.
Moreover, I have come to realize that my family has made countless sacrifices in support of my career. They have stood by my side through the highs and lows, offering unwavering love and encouragement every step of the way. It is now time for me to repay their devotion by prioritizing their needs above all else.
I am eternally grateful to the Philadelphia Phillies organization for affording me the opportunity to lead this team. And I am indebted to the incredible group of players and staff who have worked tirelessly to represent this city with pride and integrity.
