Klay Thompson ‘Could Thrive’ in Reduced Role for Warriors

Almost a lifetime has passed since the Golden State Warriors’ final game of the 2023–24 NBA season, when Klay Thompson finished a season marked by struggles with a zero-point performance in a Play-In tournament elimination game.

But, league expert Mark Medina predicts that Thompson will stay with the Warriors and might “thrive” in a smaller position with Stephen Curry and company because the five-time All-Star’s contract expires in the summer and he could potentially hit the free-agency market.

Warriors May See a Change in Their Roster
Chris Paul and Klay Thompson, among others, are connected to moves away

The Warriors’ roster may see significant changes in the upcoming months as a few of their big names are rumored to be leaving the team. Chris Paul, for example, may be leaving the team after spending just one season in the Bay Area.

As the 39-year-old’s $30 million deal becomes fully guaranteed on June 28th, the Warriors may elect to let go of the veteran, who has been mentioned as a “real possibility” to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

Andrew Wiggins is another potential departure, with the swingman having struggled with form throughout the regular season campaign, leading to him having the worst season of his career at both ends of the ball.
