Borna Barisic’s final game for Rangers was the 25 May Celtic Cup match, according to Philippe Clement.

The Croatian international’s departure from the team was disclosed by Clement prior to the match at Hampden.

Since his contract at Ibrox expires at the end of June, this was his final game for the Gers. He will undoubtedly depart the team this summer, following the confirmed departure of Kemar Roofe.

It was difficult to choose the players for this game and to make decisions, according to Clement.

“Ridvan, for instance, trained with the group for the first time yesterday and was named in the starting lineup because Robbie Fraser is still too young to lead an Old Firm like that and Borna is leaving the team.

“This week’s preparations weren’t the best, but I expect the team to give it their all in this game.”

With more chances for up-and-coming players to take center stage, Barisic’s exit from Ibrox represents a major turning point for the team.

The club has already made plans for life after Barisic, as seen by the recent addition of Jefte and the position of first choice left defender held by Ridvan Yilmaz.

Allowing the 31-year-old to depart will allow the Gers to reallocate the resources that were previously bound to his contract to other parts of the team, which could boost the group as a whole.

Younger players can also improve their talents and experience with this move, which will guarantee a smooth transition and long-term success for the team.

It’s a shame they didn’t receive a transfer fee for the Croatian, whose performances over the last several seasons have been lackluster.

Given that they must support Clement this summer, it is unclear how many more new players the team ends up bringing in.
