Johnson has made the decision to come clean about his choice to work with Dan Campbell, Brad Holmes, and the Lions as an assistant coach once more.
The remarks from Johnson coincided with his earlier remarks on the same topic. It was also addressed which rookie by the Lions is most likely to have an effect on the team in Year One.
Johnson claims that there was a moment last offseason when he realized exactly what he needed to do, and that was when Coach Campbell motivated him to return.
In the NFC Championship Game, Campbell’s gifted young Lions lost 34–31 after being outscored 27–7 in the second half by the San Francisco 49ers.
Coach Johnson recalled something Coach Campbell said that affected him in a way he never would have predicted. Johnson made remarks that were featured in an NFL.com report.
Johnson told reporters, “You know, I was just thinking about something coach (Dan Campbell) had said when I got on the plane right after the championship game.” He had given the crew an analogy in 2021 and the early months of 2022 about how we were going down the ocean at the time, and that we were in the Arctic.
“Icebergs were being struck by us.” The storms were still raging. Even though they were difficult times, he was able to see where we were going and where we were heading.
With more over 394 yards per game, the Lions placed third in the NFL last season in terms of total offense, behind the 49ers and Dolphins.
Jared Goff of the Lions disproved his naysayers en route to becoming one of the most prominent and successful quarterbacks in the game. In order for Jared Goff and the Lions to advance, they need to move past their disappointment from the previous campaign and embrace Campbell’s preparations for the Super Bowl.
Jameson Williams, a rising wide receiver, and an enhanced defense spearheaded by rookie corners Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. could provide Goff some assistance.
Expect Johnson and the Lions’ offense to be among the best in the league once more, with a Super Bowl run very much in the works if Jared Goff can establish himself as one of the NFC’s greatest quarterbacks and Jameson Williams reaches the next level.
