Caitlin Clark incurs a technical foul following a confrontation with an opponent.

The top pick in last month’s WNBA Draft received a technical foul on Thursday after engaging in a heated exchange with opponents.

Known for her confident trash-talking, Clark found herself in a tense moment after sinking a deep three-pointer against the Seattle Storm during the second quarter.

Following the shot, Clark turned around and seemingly bumped into Victoria Vivians, leading to a verbal confrontation between the two players. Despite attempts to defuse the situation, both players ended up receiving technical fouls.

While Clark’s actions may have been an attempt to ignite her team, it didn’t have the desired effect as the Fever ultimately lost the game 103-88, dropping to a 1-8 record.

Clark had a strong individual performance, scoring 20 points and dishing out nine assists while playing the entire game. However, it wasn’t enough to secure a victory for the Fever.

Meanwhile, Jewell Loyd and Skylar Diggins-Smith led the Storm to victory, with Loyd scoring 22 points and Diggins-Smith adding 18 points and nine assists.

Despite the Fever’s efforts, the Storm dominated the game, particularly in the third quarter, where they outscored their opponents by a significant margin.

As tensions rose, Fever coach Christie Sides also received a technical foul for protesting a non-call on a drive by Clark.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
