4 Players Who Could Follow Joel Piroe to West Ham, Including £3m Leeds Midfielder

West Ham United are set to complete the signing of Leeds United striker Joel Piroe, and with the transfer deadline fast approaching, several more additions could follow the Suriname international to East London.

Piroe, 27, has struggled for regular game time at Elland Road since Leeds returned to the Premier League in 2025. The striker featured for just 246 minutes in league football last season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor all preferred by Daniel Farke.

The former Swansea City forward now appears set to swap West Yorkshire for the capital on loan with an obligation to buy, giving Nuno Espirito Santo another attacking option at the London Stadium.

Piroe would become West Ham’s third signing of the sum

mer after Joel Veltman and Manor Solomon. However, with two weeks remaining before the transfer window closes, the Hammers could still strengthen in several other areas.

Here are four realistic targets who could potentially follow Piroe to East London.

Amario Cozier-Duberry

Brighton & Hove Albion winger Amario Cozier-Duberry is attracting plenty of interest this summer.

The former Arsenal academy prospect impressed during his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers in League One last season, registering eight goals and 12 assists in 34 league appearances. He could now be ready to make the step up to the Championship or potentially beyond.

Rangers have already seen a £7.5 million bid rejected for the 21-year-old, while reports suggest Brighton value him at around £10 million. The winger still has two years remaining on his contract at the Amex.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are also believed to be interested, but West Ham could have a strong case for making a move.

Jarrod Bowen remains the club’s main option on the right flank, but genuine competition and an alternative in that position would be valuable. Cozier-Duberry could provide immediate depth while also offering a long-term option for the Hammers.

Ao Tanaka

Ao Tanaka is another Leeds player who could potentially find himself on the move this summer.

Like Piroe, the Japanese midfielder has seen his opportunities reduced since Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League in 2025. At 27, Tanaka is entering his prime and could be tempted by the chance to secure more regular first-team football elsewhere.

West Ham have already lost Mateus Fernandes and Freddie Potts this summer. While the arrival of Arne Engels from Celtic helps fill the void, another midfield option could be required, particularly with Edson Alvarez still expected to leave.

Leeds paid around £3 million to sign Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf just two years ago, meaning the Whites could potentially make a sizeable profit if they decide to cash in.

For West Ham, Tanaka would represent a relatively affordable and experienced option who could add energy, versatility and quality to Nuno Espirito Santo’s midfield.

Harry Amass

Manchester United youngster Harry Amass has reportedly been made available for around £6 million, potentially opening the door for a permanent move this summer.

The 19-year-old impressed during the first half of last season while on loan at Sheffield Wednesday before an injury interrupted his spell with Norwich City during the second half of the campaign.

A permanent departure from Old Trafford could now be on the cards, with several Championship clubs understood to be monitoring his situation.

West Ham may also have reason to consider a move. With El Hadji Malick Diouf heavily linked with a £40 million transfer to Brentford, the Hammers could soon need another option at left-back alongside Ollie Scarles.

Amass can operate as a conventional left-back or further forward as a wing-back in a back five. Despite his limited senior experience, he has shown the ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

At the reported price, West Ham could view him as an exciting young investment with plenty of room to develop.

James Tavernier

James Tavernier could be another experienced option for West Ham, particularly with Aaron Wan-Bissaka edging closer to a move to Aston Villa.

That would leave Kyle Walker-Peters as the club’s only obvious senior right-back, although Veltman can provide cover when required.

Tavernier, who left Rangers this summer after his contract expired, could offer competition, experience and attacking quality in the position.

The 34-year-old spent a decade at Ibrox, making 565 appearances across all competitions and recording an extraordinary 144 goals and 148 assists during his time with the Scottish giants.

Tavernier has reportedly held talks with several MLS clubs, including Charlotte, but West Ham have previously been linked with the former Rangers captain.

For Nuno, bringing in an experienced defender who can challenge Walker-Peters for a starting role could make sense, particularly if Wan-Bissaka completes his expected departure.

With the transfer deadline approaching, Tavernier could be an intriguing short-term option for the Hammers.
