The final whistle sparked wild celebrations. Then everything turned ugly.
Celtic had just completed one of the most dramatic comebacks in Scottish Premiership history. Kelechi Iheanacho’s 99th-minute penalty sent the away end into delirium .
But what happened next has left Motherwell fans furious and police reviewing footage.
The roof collapse
As hundreds of Celtic fans spilled onto the pitch to celebrate, one supporter climbed onto the roof of the disabled shelter. Witnesses say the structure couldn’t handle the weight.
“One guy fell off the roof onto his back and looked to have seriously injured himself,” a Motherwell season ticket holder reported .
The same witness described a disabled fan left traumatized: “I’ve just left my son who is a wheelchair user and sits with me in the disabled shelter still traumatised because the scumbags who invaded the park from the main stand nearly came through the roof of the shelter.”
The clashes
The pitch invasion wasn’t peaceful. Multiple eyewitnesses reported violent confrontations.
“Two got onto the park and were huckled by the stewards but were throwing punches as they were led out to the gate,” one fan wrote .
Another Motherwell supporter described Celtic fans infiltrating home sections before the match: “A bunch of Celtic fans managed to get into the South stand pre-match from the corner where the beer garden is. Presumably they jumped over someone’s garden wall.”
“Absolute vermin of the highest order”
The ongoing manhunt
This isn’t an isolated incident. Police are still hunting 39 suspects from the March Ibrox chaos, where a steward was carried off on a stretcher, a female police officer was kicked to the ground, and a 10-year-old child was hit by a coin .
Celtic striker Tomáš Čvančara gave an interview with his shirt soaked in blood after intervening in that violence .
The backlash
Motherwell fans are demanding action.
“Celtic are running Scottish football and their fans are out of control and can basically do whatever they like with impunity,” one fumed .
“Cut the fuckers allocation in half next season and stick them in the top tier, the less vermin in our ground the better.”
The bottom line
A fan fell from a roof. Multiple confrontations with stewards. Disabled supporters left traumatised.
The title race isn’t the only thing spiraling out of control.
