Jamie charragher is not convinced with the Celtic win

Former Jamie Carragher has sparked massive debate across social media after brutally comparing Celtic F.C. to Arsenal F.C. following Celtic’s dramatic title-clinching victory over Hearts.

The outspoken pundit did not hold back while reacting live to Celtic’s chaotic 3-1 win, insisting the Scottish champions reminded him of Arsenal’s frustrating performances throughout the season.

> “After watching the whole 90 minutes there is no difference between Celtic and Arsenal of this season,” Carragher said during the post-match analysis.

The comments immediately exploded online, with supporters from both clubs clashing over what many described as a “harsh but accurate” assessment.

Celtic eventually lifted the title after a dramatic late comeback, but Carragher questioned the overall quality of the performance despite the celebrations inside Celtic Park. According to the former defender, Celtic looked nervous, vulnerable defensively and overly dependent on moments of chaos rather than complete control of the game.

Fans watching the encounter saw Hearts frustrate Celtic for long periods, even taking the lead before late drama completely changed the atmosphere. Carragher argued that the performance mirrored Arsenal’s season — dominant possession at times, emotional football, but lacking authority when it mattered most.

The comparison instantly triggered Arsenal supporters, many accusing Carragher of taking unnecessary shots at the North London side after another season filled with disappointment and criticism. Others admitted the similarities were difficult to ignore, especially the late panic, defensive uncertainty and reliance on emotional momentum.

Meanwhile, Celtic supporters defended their team fiercely, pointing out that unlike Arsenal, Celtic still ended the campaign with silverware. Many fans also reminded Carragher that winning ugly is still winning.

Social media quickly turned the statement viral, with clips of Carragher’s reaction circulating across football pages within minutes. Rival fans piled into the debate, while others branded the comments “savage,” “disrespectful,” and “the most accurate football take of the week.”

Despite the controversy, Celtic manager refused to engage with the criticism during his post-match interview, choosing instead to praise his players for their mentality and fighting spirit in one of the most dramatic title deciders in recent Scottish football history.
