Leeds United keep tabs on Shea Charles as summer transfer interest grows 🔥⚽

Leeds United are reportedly continuing to monitor Southampton midfielder Shea Charles ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who progressed through the academy at Manchester City, emerged as one of the Championship’s standout midfielders during the 2025/26 season. However, he was unable to feature in the play-off final after Southampton’s involvement ended amid the widely discussed ‘spygate’ controversy.

Leeds United still tracking Shea Charles

Leeds have been linked with Charles before, particularly after his impressive loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday during the 2024/25 campaign. According to Football Insider, the Whites have maintained their interest in the Northern Ireland international and could pursue a deal this summer.

Reports suggest Charles may leave Southampton, with the Saints expected to sanction several departures in the coming months.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider Podcast, Pete O’Rourke explained that Leeds have admired the midfielder for some time and considered making a move last summer following his strong performances at Hillsborough.

O’Rourke added that if Charles decides to seek a move away from St Mary’s, competition for his signature is likely to be intense, with Leeds expected to be among several clubs keeping close tabs on the defensive midfielder.

Other Southampton names linked with Leeds

Charles is not the only Southampton player to have been connected with a move to Elland Road. Leeds have also reportedly shown interest in attacking midfielder Leo Scienza.

Both players impressed in the Championship and are viewed as capable of stepping up to Premier League level. Charles helped Southampton secure promotion in 2024 before being sent on loan to South Yorkshire rather than remaining involved in the top flight.

During his time at Hillsborough, Charles also played alongside his younger brother Pierce Charles, the highly rated goalkeeper who has likewise been linked with Leeds in recent months.
