Celtic Insider Reveals Exact Moment He Noticed the Title Race Felt ‘Different’

A Celtic insider has revealed the exact moment he believed the 2025/26 title race had shifted — even when most fans and pundits felt the season was slipping away.

At the time, Celtic had just suffered a damaging 2-1 defeat to Motherwell on February 22, 2026. The result triggered frustration among supporters, with critics questioning the team’s form and momentum. Hearts were pushing at the top, Rangers were in contention, and Celtic looked vulnerable.

But behind the scenes, the mood was reportedly very different.

According to the insider, while the reaction outside was panic and doubt, something inside the camp felt “off” — in a very different way.

“Something felt different,” he explained. “Everyone else was panicking, but inside the dressing room you could sense something wasn’t finished yet.”

He pointed to the players’ body language, training intensity, and the calm presence of the coaching staff under Martin O’Neill as signs that the season was not unraveling — but about to turn.

“I knew right then,” he added. “The title wasn’t going to Hearts. It wasn’t going to Rangers. It was coming back to Celtic Park.”

What followed appeared to confirm that belief.

Celtic went on a strong run of form, including six consecutive league victories, a statement 3-1 win over Rangers at Parkhead, and a crucial late-season surge that kept them in control of the title race. A controversial 99th-minute penalty at Motherwell also proved pivotal in maintaining momentum during a key stage of the campaign.

The run ultimately culminated in a final-day title decider win over Hearts, sealing the Premiership crown, before the season was completed with Scottish Cup success to secure a domestic double.

For the insider, the turning point was never about a single match or moment — but a shift in mentality that others failed to notice at the time.

While outsiders saw collapse and inconsistency, those inside the camp reportedly saw belief, stability, and a sense that the season still belonged to them.

In hindsight, that February night against Motherwell may have been less of a breaking point — and more of a turning point.

And according to him, it was obvious all along.
