Leeds United’s Elland Road expansion officially begins

The redevelopment of Leeds United’s iconic Elland Road Stadium is now officially under way.

A landmark moment in the club’s 106-year history, work has commenced on the West Stand, beginning with the removal of the Banqueting Suite as the first step towards shaping the future of Elland Road.

Representatives from Leeds United, the Leeds United Foundation and Leeds City Council were joined by club ambassadors Stuart Dallas, Tony Dorigo and Eddie Gray to mark the occasion.

The new West Stand, which will be constructed above the existing structure, represents the first phase of transforming Elland Road into a UEFA Category 4 stadium, placing it among Europe’s premier football venues.

Expanding the stadium’s capacity is crucial for the club’s long-term growth, with more than 32,000 supporters currently on the season ticket waiting list.

The project will also enable Leeds United, working alongside civic partners, to bid for major international tournaments and showcase events, delivering substantial cultural and economic benefits to the Leeds City Region.

Carefully planned to improve the matchday experience while preserving Elland Road’s renowned atmosphere, supporters can look forward to:

• Greater seating comfort and improved sightlines throughout the expanded West Stand
• Upgraded concourses and enhanced fan facilities both inside and around the stadium
• A more inclusive and accessible environment for all visitors
• First-class hospitality facilities

For the players, the upgraded stadium will provide a stage worthy of elite-level football, further strengthening the club’s ability to compete at the highest level and attract top talent.

The club will continue to provide regular updates as the project progresses. To stay informed with the latest news, as well as updates on future ticket and hospitality sales, supporters are encouraged to sign up below.
