Coventry City lead race to sign €10milliom-rated Goztepe star in a shock transfer move.

Coventry City fans continue to eagerly await news of fresh signings to help the club compete on their return to the Premier League.

Their biggest signing this summer has, without doubt, been the commitment from Frank Lampard to lead the Sky Blues in the top flight after this week signing a new contract extension until 2029.

Frank Onyeka has also completed his permanent move to the CBS Arena but we are yet to see any new faces through the door at Ryton, where the players reported back for duty on Wednesday.

City are claimed to be close to signing Switzerland international defender Aurèle Amenda. The 22-year-old centre-back is currently out at the World Cup with his country but it is claimed “advanced negotiations” are underway between the Sky Blues and the player’s club, Eintracht Frankfurt.

That’s according to German Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg who says that the right-sided centre-half has already been in talks with the newly promoted Premier League side, and insists the Bundesliga club are prepared to sell.

Elsewhere, City have had a reported £20m bid for goalkeeper Carl Rushworth rejected by Brighton and that potential move remains up in the air.

Here’s a round-up of other name who have been linked with interest from Coventry in recent days and weeks in a shock wave.

Anthony Dennis

Goztepe midfielder Anthony Dennis could be on his way to Coventry City, according to reports from Turkey.

Turkish publication Sabah claim the Sky Blues have “entered the race” for the 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder, who Trabzonspor had previously made an offer for.

It says that it’s been reported that the English club has “begun negotiations” with Sport Republic, the company that manages the football division of Galatasaray.

Göztepe management have, according to the article, set the transfer fee of €10million for the right footed defensive midfielder. It has been reported that the club officials will raise the price even further due to increasing interest from other clubs.

It is also claimed that Göztepe’s Danish chairman, Rasmus Ankersen, is currently in London where he will hold another meeting with Coventry City executives.

The Nigerian came through the Turkish club’s youth academy and has now played 83 times for the senior team. In the 2025/26 campaign, he scored three times in 31 games.

Verdict: City will certainly need reinforcements and competition for Matt Grimes and Frank Onyeka and £5.9m doesn’t seem excessive for a young player who already has plenty of senior experience in Turkey.
