Coventry City are exploring a move for Everton goalkeeper Mark Travers as Frank Lampard looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
According to reports, the Sky Blues are considering activating a release clause in the 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international’s contract. Travers joined Everton from Bournemouth last summer but has found first-team opportunities limited behind Jordan Pickford.
A source close to the situation told Football Insider: “Coventry are interested in Mark Travers and are considering activating a release clause in his contract.” The move would provide competition or an alternative to their primary target, Carl Rushworth of Brighton.

Lampard’s side have already made one significant signing this summer in the form of Frank Onyeka from Brentford. Adding Travers would further bolster their options between the posts as they prepare for the rigours of top-flight football.
Travers, who has represented Ireland at senior level, is seen as a reliable shot-stopper with Premier League experience. A switch to Coventry could offer him the regular playing time he has been lacking at Goodison Park.
One football insider noted: “Any departure is likely to cost a similar fee to what Everton paid, if not more, with the Toffees likely to profit on the deal.”
Coventry fans have reacted with cautious optimism to the links. “A solid keeper with Prem experience would be a good addition,” one supporter commented online. “We need depth if we’re going to survive this season.”
The transfer window remains open until the end of August, giving both clubs time to negotiate. While nothing is advanced yet, the interest in Travers highlights Coventry’s proactive approach to squad building under Lampard.
With strong links already in place for players like Aurèle Amenda and others, the Sky Blues appear determined to make a competitive impression in the Premier League.
