Wolves Join West Ham and Rangers in Transfer Race for £10m Brighton Star

Wolves are exploring further additions during the remainder of the summer transfer window as Cesar Peixoto looks to strengthen his squad for a promotion push. The Old Gold have now registered their interest in highly-rated Brighton & Hove Albion winger Amario Cozier-Duberry, but face strong competition for his signature.

Peixoto’s side have endured a surprisingly quiet transfer window since returning to the Championship for the first time since Wolves won the 2017/18 second-tier title under Nuno Espirito Santo. So far, only three new players have arrived at Molineux: Rafiki Said, Kieran Trippier and former talisman Raul Jimenez.

There have also been relatively few departures following relegation, although there is growing speculation that Wolves could become considerably more active during the final stages of the summer window.

With further reinforcements seemingly necessary if Peixoto is to meet expectations and guide his team into the promotion picture, a fresh update has revealed that the Black Country club are now competing for an eight-figure Brighton deal alongside several rivals from the EFL and beyond.

Wolves Join West Ham and Rangers in £10m Cozier-Duberry Transfer Race

The latest development comes from Express & Star journalist Liam Keen, who revealed Wolves’ growing interest in a potential deal for Cozier-Duberry on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Keen, Wanderers are exploring a move for the talented young winger despite significant competition. However, other targets are also being considered in the same position as Peixoto looks to strengthen his wide options before the transfer window closes.

Cozier-Duberry enjoyed an impressive loan spell in League One with Bolton Wanderers last season, helping Steven Schumacher’s side secure promotion through the play-offs before returning to parent club Brighton.

The Seagulls could now be prepared to sanction a permanent departure from the Amex if their asking price is met in the coming weeks.

The latest update follows a report from journalist Pete O’Rourke claiming that Brighton have placed a £10 million valuation on Cozier-Duberry after Rangers saw a £7 million offer rejected. The highly-rated 21-year-old has also been linked with Championship promotion rivals West Ham this summer.

Cozier-Duberry was previously regarded as one of Arsenal’s brightest young prospects before joining Brighton in 2024. He has since attracted loan interest from several Championship clubs, although Brighton could now favour a permanent sale if the right offer arrives.

At present, it remains unclear what type of deal Wolves are considering. What is certain, however, is that Peixoto faces plenty of competition in his attempt to bring the talented winger to the Black Country.

Wolves Fans React to Cozier-Duberry Transfer Interest

Wolves’ interest in Cozier-Duberry has generated a mixed response among supporters, with some fans frustrated that the club are only beginning to explore potential deals at this stage of the summer.

The criticism comes after Wolves had the entire transfer window to strengthen Peixoto’s squad but have so far made only three additions.

One supporter welcomed the pursuit of Cozier-Duberry but argued that a deal of this nature should have been worked on much earlier in the summer.

Another fan shared a similar view, simply calling on the club to get the deal completed now that Brighton’s asking price is known.

There is clearly growing urgency among the Wolves fanbase, particularly given how active several of their promotion rivals have been in the transfer market.

That pressure has also been increased by Wolves’ disappointing start to the 2026/27 campaign, with Peixoto’s side held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by relegation-tipped Blackburn Rovers on the opening weekend.

As a result, one supporter believes Wolves could require as many as four or five more additions before deadline day.

Former Birmingham City and Leicester City midfielder Jordan James has also been strongly linked with the club, with supporters continuing to question his situation as they demand further reinforcements.

Amario Cozier-Duberry Could Be an Exciting Wolves Signing

If Wolves can beat Cozier-Duberry’s growing list of admirers to his signature, the Championship newcomers could potentially secure an excellent long-term investment.

Some supporters may question Brighton’s £10 million valuation for a player whose most impressive performances have come at League One level, particularly after he struggled for consistent playing time during his loan spell with Blackburn Rovers two seasons ago.

However, those who watched Cozier-Duberry at his best for Bolton last season, as well as those familiar with his development during his time in Arsenal’s academy, will recognise the considerable potential he possesses.

The winger primarily operates from the right flank and enjoyed a superb campaign in League One, registering nine goals and 10 assists in 34 appearances despite missing more than two months through injury.

His ability to produce spectacular finishes is another major part of his appeal. Five of his nine league goals came from outside the box, with his trademark long-range curling efforts after cutting inside onto his stronger left foot becoming one of the defining features of his game.

Amario Cozier-Duberry’s Career Stats by Club

Years Club Appearances Goals Assists
2022-2024 Arsenal 0 0 0
2024- Brighton 0 0 0
2024-2025 Blackburn Rovers (loan) 23 1 0
2025-2026 Bolton Wanderers (loan) 41 10 10

Cozier-Duberry would provide Wolves with a significant creative and goalscoring threat from the right side. He is capable of staying wide, attacking the byline and beating defenders on the outside, while also possessing the ability to cut inside and create or finish chances as an inverted winger.

His pace, technical ability and low centre of gravity could make him a difficult player to contain at Championship level, while his recent production suggests he could also provide an immediate attacking contribution.

For Wolves, Cozier-Duberry could bring an additional dimension and genuine X-factor to their attack. If the Old Gold can beat West Ham, Rangers and the other interested clubs to his signature, securing his services could represent a major statement of intent ahead of their promotion campaign.
