Mike Tomlin addresses Pittsburgh Steelers future.

Following the Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs this week, head coach Mike Tomlin left the podium abruptly when asked a question about his future with the team, leading to speculation that he could be on his way out of Pittsburgh. But it sounds like that is not the case, after all.

During a press conference on Thursday, Mike Tomlin was much more willing to discuss his contract situation and his future with the team, admitting that while he didn’t think Monday’s postgame press conference was the best time for those conversations, he could have handled the situation better.

In his press conference, Tomlin made it clear that he does expect to be back with the Steelers and does expect to have a new contract with the team that runs past next season.

“Yes, I expect to be back. I’d imagine those contract things are gonna run their course,” Tomlin said according to Pro Football Talk. “Art and I have a really good, transparent relationship. We communicate continually, often. I don’t Imagine it’s gonna be an issue and I imagine it’s gonna get done in a timely manner at the appropriate time.”

Tomlin has been one of the most consistent coaches in the league and has never led Pittsburgh to a losing season in his 17 seasons as a head coach. However, the team has not won a playoff game since 2016.
