Report: Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale resigns…

Start the Conversation New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll continued to revamp his coaching staff on Monday, and the latest move was a big one.
Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale has resigned, NFL Network reports.
The news comes on the heels of news that two of Martindale’s top assistants, defensive assistant and outside linebackers coach Kevin and Drew Wilkins, brought in from Baltimore, have been relieved of their duties.

The news of Martindale’s departure comes as no surprise.
A few weeks ago, FOX Sports’ NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that Daboll and Martindale’s working relationship had deteriorated and a separation was likely imminent.
The relationship continued through the bye week and the rest of the season, as both sides tried to downplay the tension.
But whispers of an impending break-up persisted, and when the Wilkins brothers were relieved of their duties, Martindale’s departure appeared to be a done deal.
Daboll needs two new coordinators after firing special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey.
A new offensive line coach will also be needed following the firing of Bobby Johnson.
He will also have to replace running backs coach Jeff Nixon, who is retiring as offensive coordinator at Syracuse University, and strength and conditioning coach Craig Fitzgerald, who held a similar position at the University of Florida.
