Leeds United deal to sign Daiki Hashioki ‘off’ as YEP share January transfer update from Elland Road..

The Leeds United deal to sign defender Daiki Hashioki in the January transfer window is now “off”, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The on Sunday (28 January) that the Whites were looking at signing the Japanese international, but they are now looking at other targets this month. It comes after the Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad reported on its live transfer tracker on Sunday (06:38am) that negotiations with Sint-Truiden were “well advanced” and the deal for the 24-year-old was expected to be completed quickly at Elland Road.

But the Daily Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath has now revealed that Luton Town are in talks to sign Hashioko for €2million (£1.7million) as the transfer deadline edges closer.

This latest update will be extremely frustrating for Leeds fans as the club are yet to make a single signing so far this month despite letting players leave.

Hashioki looked set to come in and challenge Archie Gray for the right-back spot after Djed Spence was sent back to Tottenham and Luke Ayling joined Middlesbrough on loan.

But that now looks incredibly unlikely to happen as the Whites appear to have turned their focus towards other targets despite there being just days left in the transfer window.
