While there were a few outstanding teams at the top of the West, the next tier and overall depth appeared to be superior on the other side of the continent. It is abundantly clear that the opposite is true as the Avalanche take a break in preparation for the NHL All-Star Game, and Colorado’s return to the Stanley Cup Final may be fraught with danger.

There were 13 groups with +2500 chances or better to win the Stanley Cup in the preseason, as per BetMGM. The East is home to eight of these teams.
