Quentin Grimes was discussed by the Knicks in several trade talks: Report…

Quentin Grimes has gone from being the New York Knicks’ keeper to a mere stand-in in the blink of an eye.

According to Michael Scotto of Hoopshype, the Knicks have been making offers to the 23-year-old former first-round choice left and right in an attempt to improve their squad.

According to league insiders who spoke with HoopsHype, “Knicks guard Quentin Grimes, who was previously discussed in Donovan Mitchell trade talks, came up again in separate discussions for Clarkson and Olynyk with the Jazz.”

According to league insiders who spoke with HoopsHype, Grimes has also been brought up in several trade talks with the Atlanta Hawks for guard Dejounte Murray and in a different, more intimate conversation involving AJ Griffin. According to sources, Grimes is seen favorably by the Hawks as a possible 3-and-D option to play alongside to Trae Young. Scotto wrote on January 31.

Griffin has lost favor in Atlanta, just like Grimes. However, Griffin, 20, is both larger and younger than Grimes.

With a 7-foot wingspan, the 6-foot-6 Griffin has the build of a reliable 3-and-D wing in the future. In his rookie season, he averaged 8.9 points in 19.5 minutes while shooting 39% from outside the arc and 46.5% from the field, demonstrating a lot of promise. Nevertheless, with Dejounte Murray, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and De’Andre Hunter all healthy this season, he was dropped from Quin Snyder’s starting lineup.

Grimes is no longer in the starting lineup for the Knicks, so they’re attempting to get something back from him before the following season, when he becomes a restricted free agency, ends. This summer, Grimes is eligible for an extension.
