Gennaro Gattuso should leave Ibrox, Lorenzo Amoruso, a fan of the Rangers, told TV Play.
The same year his countryman came at Ibrox from Perugia, Amoruso joined Rangers from Fiorentina.
After the two teammates played a season at Rangers together, the 52-year-old disclosed his reasoning for asking Gattuso to leave Ibrox. Prior to joining AC Milan in 1999, the latter departed Rangers for Salernitana.
“He has consistently been sincere; during a difficult time in my professional life, I sustained an injury and was housed at his residence as a guest of his family,” he said.
Respect and sympathy form the foundation of my unique relationship with him. I advised him he should quit the Rangers since the coach didn’t notice him, as I was his elder brother. In Salernitana, where he began his career, I also relocated my agency.”
The Rangers’ manager upon Gattuso’s arrival was Walter Smith. Though the Italian wasn’t his preference, Dick Advocaat took over as manager.
Amoruso got his first flight out of Italy when he relocated to Ibrox. Before joining Blackburn Rovers, he spent six years as a player with Rangers from 1997 to 2003.
In his nine championships at Ibrox, the former defender earned three league titles. 20 goals and 4 helpers in 191 games during Amoruso’s tenure with the Rangers.
The Scottish club experience had an impression on the Rangers star, who has revealed.
“It was a fantastic experience, however it opens your head, you go to a different culture,” Amoruso said in response to a question regarding his stay at Ibrox. You make comparisons between yourself and players who represent other nations and continents.
