Leeds United are prepared to offload Joel Piroe during the summer transfer window, with Rangers and Middlesbrough both showing strong interest in the Dutch striker.
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Leeds are demanding between £8-10 million for Piroe, who has fallen out of favour since the club returned to the Premier League. The 26-year-old is expected to assess his options over the coming weeks as he edges closer to a summer exit from Elland Road.
Rangers and Middlesbrough are currently leading the race for his signature, with both clubs eager to capitalise on his difficult 2025/26 campaign.
Piroe joined Leeds from Swansea City in 2023 for an initial £10 million fee, which eventually increased to £13 million after Leeds secured promotion. He played a major role in their Championship-winning season, producing 19 goals and 7 assists during the 2024/25 campaign.
However, the arrivals of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha last summer pushed him down Daniel Farke’s attacking hierarchy. The former Swansea forward has featured in just 20 games this season, managing only a single goal in a little over 500 minutes of action.
Frustrated by the lack of regular playing time, Piroe is now seriously considering a move away from Leeds.
With only one year remaining on his contract, Leeds are open to selling the striker to create space for new additions in the squad.
Rangers attempted to sign him during the winter window, but the player rejected the move at the time. Despite that setback, Danny Rohl is still believed to be interested as he aims to strengthen the Scottish club’s attack. Rangers may also benefit from the 49ers’ shared ownership links with Leeds United.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough are looking to reinforce their frontline as they continue pushing for promotion back to the Premier League. Boro were also interested in January and still view Piroe as a reliable Championship-level goalscorer capable of making an immediate impact at the Riverside.
Should Middlesbrough earn promotion, they could explore alternative targets. But if they remain in the Championship, their interest in Piroe is expected to intensify, given his finishing instincts and physical presence up front.
