VAR BOMBSHELL: CELTIC TOP SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP BENEFICIARIES TABLE AS OFFICIATING DEBATE ERUPTS
The 2025/26 Scottish Premiership season may be over, but controversy surrounding VAR and refereeing decisions continues to dominate conversations across Scottish football.
Following months of heated debate, a review of key incidents throughout the campaign has produced ranking of which clubs benefited most from officiating errors, sparking fierce discussion among supporters.
At the top of the list sit champions Celtic, who were involved in the highest number of decisions deemed to have gone in their favour throughout the season.
Their Old Firm rivals Rangers were not far behind, while several clubs battling for European places also appeared prominently in the rankings.
Meanwhile, clubs near the bottom of the table endured difficult campaigns both on the pitch and in front of the VAR screen, with supporters claiming crucial decisions often went against them.
Scottish Premiership Clubs Ranked By Officiating Errors In Their Favour (2025/26)
Rank| Club| Errors In Favour

2| Rangers| 6
3| Hibernian| 5
4| Aberdeen| 4
5| Hearts| 4
6| Dundee United| 3
7| Motherwell| 3
8| St Mirren| 2
9| Kilmarnock| 2
10| Ross County| 1
11| Dundee FC| 1
12| Livingston| 0
The figures have reignited debate surrounding the consistency of officiating standards in Scotland.
Several of Celtic’s controversial moments came during key fixtures in the title race, with opposition supporters arguing that crucial calls helped maintain momentum during important stages of the campaign.
Rangers supporters, however, were quick to point out that their side also benefited from a number of significant decisions while simultaneously feeling aggrieved by other calls that went against them.
Elsewhere, Hibernian and Aberdeen supporters welcomed strong seasons but acknowledged that a handful of contentious decisions may have played a role in crucial victories and points gained throughout the campaign.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Livingston, Dundee FC and Ross County fans voiced frustrations over several incidents they believed should have been overturned by VAR.
The findings have once again intensified calls for greater transparency from match officials, with many supporters demanding that audio recordings between referees and VAR teams be released after matches.
Despite the controversy, Scottish football authorities continue to defend VAR, insisting the technology has improved decision-making accuracy since its introduction.
However, with Celtic leading this ranking and Rangers close behind, the debate over officiating standards is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
One thing is certain: as preparations begin for the 2026/27 season, every controversial penalty, red card and offside decision will continue to be scrutinised by supporters across the country.Viral headline:
