West Ham United are closing in on a stunning £42 million deal to sign Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor, in what would rank as one of the most significant transfers of the summer window.
The 25-year-old Haiti international has emerged as a top target for the Hammers as they look to strengthen their attacking options. According to multiple reports, negotiations between the two clubs have advanced rapidly in recent days, with personal terms also understood to be close to agreement.
Isidor joined Sunderland on loan from Zenit St Petersburg in 2024 before making the move permanent the following year. He played a key role in the Black Cats’ promotion campaign and then scored six Premier League goals last season as Régis Le Bris’ side secured a top-half finish and European qualification.
A source close to the deal said:
“West Ham see Wilson as the ideal profile — young, proven in the Premier League, and still with significant upside. The fee is substantial, but they believe his goalscoring potential and international form make him worth the investment.”
The reported £42 million package would represent a major profit for Sunderland on a player who arrived for a relatively modest fee. However, the Black Cats have so far been reluctant to sell, with Le Bris previously describing Isidor as an important part of his plans for the coming campaign.
Despite that stance, the size of West Ham’s offer is understood to have forced serious discussions at the Stadium of Light. Isidor himself is said to be open to the move, particularly after a strong showing for Haiti at the recent World Cup, where his long-range strike against Morocco earned widespread praise.
One figure familiar with the talks added:
“The player is flattered by the interest and feels this could be the right next step. West Ham are pushing hard to get it over the line before the window gathers further pace.”
If completed, the transfer would give West Ham a dynamic forward capable of leading the line or operating across the front three. For Sunderland, it would free up significant funds to reinvest in the squad as they prepare for another demanding season of Premier League and Europa League football.
Both clubs are expected to finalise remaining details in the coming days, with a medical and formal announcement potentially following soon after.
Whether Sunderland ultimately accept the bid remains the key question, but the momentum currently appears to be with West Ham as they push to land their man.
