🥇 Leeds Transfer Disaster: £30m Target Shea Charles Joins Premier League Rivals Fulham

Leeds United Target Completes £30m Move to Premier League Rival Fulham

Leeds United’s pursuit of Shea Charles has officially come to an end after the midfielder sealed a £30 million transfer to Fulham.

The Whites submitted two offers for the Southampton star during the summer window, but both fell short of the Saints’ £30m valuation and were turned down. After negotiations stalled last month, Leeds opted not to increase their bid, although their final proposal remained available should talks have resumed.

Fulham later entered the race and quickly reached an agreement with Southampton, striking a deal worth an initial £26m plus a further £4m in performance-related add-ons.

The transfer was formally announced on Tuesday, with Fulham confirming that Charles has signed a five-year contract running until June 2031, while the club also holds the option of an additional 12 months. The 22-year-old midfielder will wear the No. 19 shirt at Craven Cottage.

Speaking after completing the move, Charles expressed his excitement, describing Fulham as a club with a strong structure and clear long-term vision.

“I’m delighted to get it done,” he said. “The club has an excellent foundation throughout, and the manager outlined an exciting project. It’s a huge opportunity for me, and I’m looking forward to establishing myself in the Premier League.”

Leeds’ interest in Charles cooled after talks broke down, with Daniel Farke’s side instead shifting attention to other areas of the squad. Their priority became strengthening the goalkeeping department, culminating in the club-record £40m signing of James Trafford.

Charles is set to return to Elland Road as a Fulham player on December 19 when the Cottagers travel to West Yorkshire in a Premier League fixture.

The Northern Ireland international becomes Fulham’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Jonah Kusi-Asare, Cesar Palacios and Gonzalo Garcia as the club continues to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.
