Chelsea Rule Out Leeds United Loan Move for Mykhailo Mudryk
Chelsea have ruled out Leeds United as a potential loan destination for Mykhailo Mudryk, according to Sky Sports.
The Whites had identified the 25-year-old winger as an attacking target and submitted a loan proposal. However, Chelsea’s hierarchy rejected the offer, with negotiations now stalled after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.
Mudryk is keen to secure regular first-team football as he looks to revive his career and regain match sharpness following a prolonged absence due to a doping ban.
Although manager Xabi Alonso included the winger in Chelsea’s pre-season plans, the club’s priority is to find him a team where he can play consistently before reassessing his future at Stamford Bridge next summer.
With Leeds no longer an option, Mudryk still has potential destinations across Europe. Strasbourg, Chelsea’s BlueCo sister club, remains a strong possibility and could provide the winger with a familiar environment within the group’s network.
Premier League newcomers Coventry City are also reportedly interested and could benefit from manager Frank Lampard’s connections with Chelsea.
Mudryk is among several players whose futures Chelsea are expected to resolve before the transfer window closes as the club looks to reduce the size of its squad.
Leeds must now turn their attention to alternative targets if they still want to strengthen their attack, having also missed out on Julian Brandt earlier this summer.
Daniel Farke’s side began their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday and will look to repeat that result when the two sides meet again in Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash.
Chelsea, meanwhile, travel to Fulham on Monday for their opening league fixture under Xabi Alonso before hosting Luton Town at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
