Wolves transfer twist as David Møller Wolfe ‘arrives in Hamburg’ with final details left before surprise exit

David Møller Wolfe’s Wolves future appears to be heading towards a dramatic conclusion, with the Norway international reportedly already in Hamburg as he edges closer to a move to Hamburger SV.

According to the latest reports from Germany, Wolfe is in the city and the transfer is now at an advanced stage. Only a number of final details reportedly need to be resolved before the deal can be completed.

That development could come as a surprise to Wolves supporters considering the defender only arrived at Molineux last summer.

Wolfe joined Wolves from AZ Alkmaar in August 2025 after establishing himself as one of Norway’s promising young defenders. AZ confirmed at the time that the 23-year-old had agreed a move to the Premier League club following almost 100 appearances for the Dutch side.

The Norwegian’s development had been rapid. He originally moved from SK Brann to AZ in 2023 before earning international recognition with Norway. He subsequently became part of Norway’s 2026 World Cup squad.

Now, barely a year after his Wolves move, another chapter appears to be opening.

👀 Why this could be a major Wolves talking point

The biggest question for supporters is why Wolves are apparently willing to let Wolfe leave so soon after investing heavily in him.

The defender was brought to Molineux as part of Wolves’ plans for the left side of their defence, particularly following the departure of Rayan Aït-Nouri. Previous Wolves-focused reporting described Wolfe as a player identified as a potential replacement for the Algeria international.

That makes his reported move to Hamburg particularly intriguing.

Was the move simply a case of Wolfe failing to establish himself at Wolves? Is it part of a wider restructuring under Cesar Peixoto? Or could Wolves have another move lined up before the transfer window closes?

Those are the questions likely to dominate the conversation among supporters.

And with Wolfe already reportedly in Hamburg, there may not be much longer to wait for the answer.

🚨 The intriguing part

The latest reports don’t describe this as an early-stage negotiation.

He’s reportedly already in Germany.

That suggests the transfer has progressed significantly, with the remaining issues understood to be final details rather than the beginning of negotiations.

For Wolves fans, the next development could therefore be the most important one: confirmation that Wolfe has completed his move and what the deal means for Peixoto’s defensive plans.

And considering Wolves paid around €12 million to bring him from AZ in 2025, supporters will naturally want to know what Wolves are getting in return for allowing the Norway international to leave. Transfer records list Wolfe’s Wolves contract as running until June 2030, making the reported exit even more noteworthy.

One year after Wolves signed him, David Møller Wolfe could now be on his way out — and his reported arrival in Hamburg suggests this story is much closer to the finish line than the starting point.
