Celtic Fans React to Stadium Announcement Ahead of Aberdeen Clash

The Hoops faithful erupted after a savage tannoy message at Celtic Park following their dominant 3-0 demolition of Aberdeen — with the PA system delivering a brutal reality check to the travelling Dons supporters.

The Announcement That Sparked Chaos

Celtic fans were sent into absolute raptures after a brutal stadium announcement at Parkhead following their dominant 3-0 victory over Aberdeen on Wednesday night .

The home supporters, who had just watched Camilo Duran inspire the Scottish champions to a convincing win, were already in fine voice. But it was a savage tannoy message that truly sent them wild .

According to sources at the match, the stadium announcer delivered a brutal reality check to the shell-shocked Aberdeen supporters after their side were completely outplayed by Martin O’Neill’s men .

The travelling Dons fans had made the journey to Glasgow hoping to witness an upset, but instead they watched their side fall to a comprehensive defeat. Duran opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a stunning long-range drive that cannoned in off the underside of the crossbar . Benjamin Nygren doubled the lead in the 34th minute, and Yang Hyun-jun added a third in first-half stoppage time, just seconds after Aberdeen had rattled the crossbar at the other end .

And the stadium announcer made sure everyone knew it. 😏

The Game That Made It Worse

For Aberdeen, the defeat was a reality check. The Dons had started the season brightly but were completely outclassed at Parkhead .

Celtic were in control from start to finish. The Hoops had 66.2% possession, registered 27 shots (12 on target), and had 40 touches inside the opposition box compared to Aberdeen’s 12 . It was a performance of complete dominance.

“We played very well. We seemed to control the game for the most part and I thought the first goal was a big moment because the game was still in the balance,” O’Neill said after the match .

“Overall, I’m just delighted with the win, the goals we scored, and pretty pleased with the display.”

Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson was honest in his assessment. “I thought we lacked belief in the first half, we were way too passive for the first goal and we got punished by how clinical Celtic were,” Robinson admitted .

“We hit the crossbar at 2-0 which could change the game, they go up the other end and we make a mistake and the game is effectively over.”

Robinson called the performance “unacceptable” and took full responsibility: “I take full responsibility. We got beat by a ruthless side. We made mistakes and got punished for them.”

The Aberdeen boss also revealed his frustration with his side’s lack of belief: “We didn’t have the belief that we’ve shown in training, in the second half. We didn’t have that belief in the first half to play. If you don’t get ownership of the game, it’s difficult to get out.”

The Duran Masterclass

Camilo Duran was the star of the show, scoring his sixth goal since joining Celtic in the summer .

The Colombian striker has now scored six goals and registered two assists in eight appearances for the Hoops, giving him an impressive eight goal involvements in just seven competitive games .

Against Aberdeen, Duran had six shots, four on target and five inside the box, along with eight touches in the opposition box. He also generated an expected goals (xG) of 0.62 .

“He’s a class player, there’s no question about it,” O’Neill said after the game. “He has set the tone for us since the beginning of the season. He’s playing in a position which is really strong for him but he can play in a number of positions, he’s that good.”

“Camilo set the tone for us, I think perhaps maybe all season he’s done that. He’s a really class player.”

His performance has raised questions about who will start up front when Kasper Hogh returns from injury. BBC Sport’s analysis suggested: “Even if Hogh is fit for Saturday’s trip to St Mirren, it feels like Duran has made a real claim to keep his spot up top.”

The Banners and the Atmosphere

The fans also made their feelings known about the club’s hierarchy. Before the match, the Celtic ultras displayed banners mocking the board’s declaration that they aim to be “world class” in everything they do.

One banner listed the teams who have beaten Celtic in Champions League qualifiers in the past 14 years — Legia, Maribor, Malmo, AEK Athens, Cluj, Ferencvaros, Midtjylland, Kairat and LASK — below one that read “‘world class’ embarrassment”.

However, the banners didn’t dampen the positive atmosphere inside the ground. The fans got behind the team throughout the afternoon, and one chant of “sack the board” emanating from the standing section did not take off around the rest of Celtic Park.

After the final whistle, the stadium announcer reportedly delivered a savage message that sent the home supporters into a frenzy. One fan wrote: “The stadium announcement was absolutely brutal. I loved it.”

Another added: “Aberdeen fans came all this way to watch their team get battered. The PA announcement was the icing on the cake.”

The atmosphere at Parkhead was described as “terrific” . Despite the Champions League heartbreak against LASK just days earlier, the fans stuck by the team and created a positive environment.

Camilo Duran was particularly impressed by the fans’ support. After the game, he said: “It could have been a much worse reaction from the fans given the way we lost our last match. But they were impeccable and really got behind us. That was so great for us as players.”

“It shows that they are great supporters of the team – that they’re different from a lot of other supporters.”

The Debuts

The victory also saw two new signings make their Celtic debuts. Oliver Sørensen came off the bench in the second half, while Shim Mheuka (who only joined Celtic on loan from Chelsea earlier in the day) also made his first appearance in the green and white .

Mheuka tested the Aberdeen keeper just moments after coming on, drawing a good save from Marius Müller after showing some quick feet to open up an opportunity .

Mika Baur also came close to scoring near the end of the game, with a 30-yard effort that forced a good save from Müller, especially considering the torrential rain battering Celtic Park .

The Bigger Picture

For Celtic, the victory was their fourth successive Premiership win, maintaining their perfect start to the title defence following their Champions League exit .

The win moved Celtic two points clear of St Mirren at the top of the table, with Rangers also collecting three points by beating Falkirk 2-1.

For Aberdeen, the defeat leaves them in the lower reaches of the table with just three points from four games . Robinson has signed 13 players this summer, but the squad is still finding its feet. “It was never ever going to be easy, it was never ever going to be without bumps in the road and we’ve had a few.”

The Dons will need a much improved performance when fellow strugglers Kilmarnock visit at the weekend .

What Made the Announcement So Brutal

The stadium announcement at Parkhead appeared to rub salt in the wounds of the Aberdeen supporters.

The travelling fans had made the long journey from the north-east of Scotland, only to watch their side be completely outclassed. The PA system reportedly mocked the Dons’ performance, referencing their lack of shots and possession, and their failure to lay a glove on the Hoops.

The contrast between the two sides was stark. Aberdeen had just over 33% possession, won less than half of their duels and only 28 per cent of aerial duels. They had nine shots, Celtic had 27. They had 12 touches in the opposition box, Celtic had 40 .

For the Aberdeen fans, it was a day to forget. For Celtic supporters, it was a day of celebration.

“I think the boys really controlled the game in the second half,” Oxlade-Chamberlain said after the match .

The Verdict

Celtic fans went wild after a brutal stadium announcement at Parkhead — and they had every right to celebrate.

The Hoops had just secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Aberdeen, with Camilo Duran, Benjamin Nygren and Yang Hyun-jun all on the scoresheet .

The stadium announcement that followed rubbed salt in the wounds of the travelling Dons supporters.

For Celtic, the party was just getting started. For Aberdeen, it was back to the drawing board.

One thing is certain: Celtic’s return to form was a day to remember.
