đ„ FROM EMBARRASSMENT TO REDEMPTION: LE FĂE SILENCES THE GTECH

Nine months later⊠he got his moment
Enzo Le Fée has finally rewritten the story.
Nine months after his infamous Panenka penalty at the Gtech Community Stadium ended up in the hands of CaoimhĂn Kelleher during Sunderlandâs 3-0 defeat to Brentford, the French midfielder stood in front of the same goalkeeper, in the same stadium, with Sunderland once again needing him from the spot.
This time, there was no cheeky chip.
No hesitation.
No Kelleher standing still to collect the ball.
Le FĂ©e simply picked his spot and delivered. ïżœ

✠The moment Sunderland needed
Sunderland had been the better side for long periods of the first half but found themselves behind after Vitaly Janelt broke the deadlock in the 57th minute with an excellent finish.
The Black Cats had already seen a Dan Ballard goal ruled out by VAR, while Le Fée himself had struck the post earlier in the match.
It looked as though Sunderland might once again leave west London wondering what could have been. ïżœ

But RĂ©gis Le Bris’ side refused to fold.
The introduction of Wilson Isidor and later Malick Fofana gave Sunderland fresh attacking energy, and eventually that pressure produced the decisive moment.
Fofana’s cross caused problems inside the Brentford box, and Keane Lewis-Potter was adjudged to have held Isidor.
Penalty.
And suddenly, all eyes were on Le Fée.
đ Same stadium. Same goalkeeper. Completely different ending.
There was an obvious question hanging over the situation:
Would Le Fée dare another Panenka?
The answer was emphatic.
The midfielder stepped up and sent Kelleher the wrong way, finding the bottom corner to make it 1-1.
Sky Sports reported that the penalty came in the 82nd minute, while Brentford’s official report recorded Le FĂ©e’s conversion after Lewis-Potter was penalised for the challenge on Isidor. ïżœ

And that was the beauty of the moment.
The same goalkeeper who had remained completely unmoved months earlier was beaten this time.
The same stadium that had witnessed Le FĂ©e’s humiliation was now celebrating his redemption.
đ„ From the lowest moment to the biggest response
Back in January, Le FĂ©e’s Panenka became a major talking point after Kelleher simply stayed where he was and caught the ball.
Brentford went on to win 3-0, with Igor Thiago scoring twice and Yehor Yarmoliuk adding another.
The penalty miss became symbolic of a miserable night for Sunderland. ïżœ

But Le Fée did not allow that moment to define him.
When the opportunity came again, he chose the simple option.
And this time, he delivered.
That is what makes Saturday’s equaliser more than just another penalty.
It was a response.
đŁïž Sunderland fans will remember this one
The 1-1 draw may ultimately feel like a point gained rather than two points lost for Sunderland.
Brentford had taken control after the interval and looked capable of holding on after Janelt’s opener. But Sunderland showed resilience and found a way back into the game.
Le FĂ©e’s goal also means Sunderland avoided another defeat at a stadium that had caused them so much pain earlier in the year. ïżœ

And perhaps most importantly, the midfielder has now replaced one Gtech memory with another.
The Panenka that once haunted him is no longer the final chapter.
â€ïž Redemption tastes different
Football has a funny way of giving players another chance.
Nine months ago, Le Fée tried to be clever.
Kelleher read him perfectly.
On Saturday, Le Fée had another opportunity to write his own ending.
This time, he kept it simple.
He sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
He found the net.
And he walked away with a point for Sunderland.
From the penalty that embarrassed him⊠to the penalty that rescued Sunderland.
Maybe this wasn’t just an equaliser.
Maybe it was Le FĂ©e finally getting his revenge. ïżœ
