Christos Mouzakitis has ‘something different’ to offer Hull City as teammate issues verdict

Christos Mouzakitis has been backed to bring something different to Hull City, with teammate Konstantinos Tzolakis explaining what makes the young midfielder stand out.
The 19-year-old joined Hull City from Olympiacos on transfer deadline day earlier this month, with chairman Acun Ilicali describing his arrival as a gift for City supporters.
However, Hull fans have so far had very little opportunity to see the Greece international in action.
Mouzakitis has made just one appearance for Hull City since his move, coming off the bench during the Carabao Cup clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
He spent around 30 minutes on the pitch and managed to create an opportunity for himself, although he was unable to make a major impact on the contest.
Since then, he has not featured for Sergej Jakirovic’s side.
His involvement with the Greece national team alongside Tzolakis this week also means he will have to wait until after the international break for another chance to continue settling into life at the MKM Stadium.
Tzolakis, though, knows exactly what Mouzakitis can offer.
The Hull goalkeeper previously played alongside the midfielder at Olympiacos and has also shared the pitch with him at international level. He is now looking forward to seeing his former teammate given more opportunities in the Premier League.
“I played with him in Greece and also in the national team,” Tzolakis said.
“I know him very well and I’m very happy for him because it’s difficult from Olympiacos to go direct to the Premier League but we achieved that together.
“I’m waiting to play with him in a game now.”
Tzolakis believes Mouzakitis has a different style compared with some of Hull City’s other midfield options, particularly those who have already spent time playing in the Championship.
“He has a different style to other players because Crooksy and Regan played in the Championship,” he added.
“It’s obviously totally different from the Greek league.”
The goalkeeper also highlighted one of Mouzakitis’ biggest strengths, pointing towards his technical ability despite acknowledging that the teenager does not necessarily possess the same physical power as some players.
“He doesn’t have the power but he is very good technically with his left foot, so it’s something different and if our manager wants something different then yes, he can do it.”
Tzolakis also revealed that he has been helping Mouzakitis adapt to his new surroundings following his move to England.
“I’m trying to adapt him because he’s young,” he said.
“Also what I know is he found a house near to me so it’s perfect for him and for me because it’s the first time to go abroad so it will be difficult, probably not now in the winter with the cold here in England.”
For now, Hull supporters will have to wait for a longer look at their new Greek midfielder.
Mouzakitis has only had a brief taste of English football so far, but his teammate’s assessment suggests there is another dimension to his game that could give Jakirovic an alternative option when he is ready for a bigger role.
