FORGET CARTER-VICKERS CELTIC FANS RUTHLESSLY CRITICISE ANOTHER PLAYER AFTER FALKIRK DEFEAT

Celtic supporters have been left furious following their disappointing 2-0 defeat against Falkirk, with another member of Martin O’Neill’s squad coming under serious criticism after a performance that left plenty of questions unanswered.

While Cameron Carter-Vickers has naturally attracted attention following his costly mistake in the opening minutes, he has not been the only Celtic player facing criticism from frustrated supporters.

The defeat has exposed several problems within the Celtic team, and fans are now questioning the performances of players who were expected to make a much bigger difference during an important league fixture.

For a club with Celtic’s ambitions, losing against Falkirk in this manner is never going to be accepted easily. The result was particularly disappointing because the Hoops had an opportunity to strengthen their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Instead, they delivered another frustrating afternoon, leaving supporters questioning the team’s mentality, concentration and ability to respond when things become difficult.

A DISASTROUS AFTERNOON FOR CELTIC

Celtic travelled to Falkirk hoping to collect three important points, but the afternoon quickly turned into a nightmare.

The hosts needed only three minutes to take the lead after Ryan Strain delivered a dangerous ball into the penalty area. Carter-Vickers failed to deal with the situation properly, allowing Ethan Ross to take advantage and put Falkirk ahead.

It was the worst possible start for O’Neill’s side.

Celtic had barely settled into the contest before finding themselves chasing the game, and the early setback immediately placed additional pressure on the visitors.

There were opportunities for Celtic to respond, but their finishing and decision-making repeatedly let them down.

Camilo Durán came close on several occasions, including an effort that struck the post, while Falkirk goalkeeper Scott Bain produced an outstanding performance against his former club.

Bain made a series of important saves, frustrating Celtic’s attackers and giving his teammates the confidence to protect their advantage.

Things became even worse shortly before half-time when Scott Tanser scored Falkirk’s second goal in the 38th minute.

Owen Eames played an important role in creating the opportunity, allowing Tanser to find space before finishing past Sam Johnstone.

At 2-0, Celtic had a mountain to climb.

ANOTHER CELTIC PLAYER UNDER FIRE

Although Carter-Vickers’ mistake became one of the biggest talking points, the wider frustration among Celtic supporters has been directed towards the team’s overall performance.

Supporters expected experienced players to take responsibility, particularly when the team found itself behind.

However, Celtic struggled to produce the response required, and several attacking players failed to make the necessary impact.

The criticism surrounding the performance has also raised questions about the team’s lack of consistency.

It is difficult for supporters to understand how a squad with so much experience can repeatedly make matches unnecessarily complicated.

Celtic were not short of possession or opportunities, but their inability to turn those advantages into goals ultimately proved expensive.

The frustration is understandable because supporters are not simply judging the result. They are concerned about the repeated mistakes and the lack of convincing performances.

SCOTT BAIN MAKES CELTIC PAY

One of the biggest stories from the afternoon was the performance of former Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain.

The Falkirk shot-stopper produced an impressive display, making several important saves to deny his former employers.

Every time Celtic appeared close to finding a breakthrough, Bain seemed to have another answer.

His double save from James Forrest and Benjamin Nygren during the second half was particularly important, as it prevented Celtic from building any momentum.

The goalkeeper received enormous appreciation from the home supporters, who recognised how important his contribution had been.

For Celtic, however, it was another painful reminder of how difficult the afternoon had become.

Their attackers had opportunities, but they repeatedly found themselves frustrated by a goalkeeper who appeared determined to make them regret every missed chance.

MARTIN O’NEILL FACES MORE QUESTIONS

The result has inevitably increased the pressure surrounding Martin O’Neill.

Celtic have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, and the defeat against Falkirk represents another disappointing chapter in an increasingly frustrating period.

The manager made changes during the second half, introducing James Forrest before later turning to Kasper Høgh and Benjamin Nygren.

However, those substitutions failed to produce the comeback Celtic desperately needed.

The visitors continued searching for a goal, but Falkirk defended their advantage with determination.

O’Neill will now have to examine why his team continues to struggle with defensive concentration and attacking efficiency.

It is one thing to lose a difficult away fixture, but it is another to repeatedly give opponents opportunities through avoidable mistakes.

The Celtic manager will also know that supporters expect a much stronger response when the team returns to action.

THE BIGGER PROBLEM CELTIC CANNOT IGNORE

Perhaps the most concerning aspect of this defeat is that Celtic’s problems cannot be blamed on one individual.

Carter-Vickers made an expensive mistake, but the entire team must accept responsibility for what happened afterwards.

The midfield needed to control the contest, the attackers needed to take their opportunities, and the defensive unit needed to prevent Falkirk from extending their advantage.

Unfortunately for Celtic, those areas did not come together when it mattered most.

Falkirk deserve enormous credit for their performance. They were organised, aggressive and clinical when their opportunities arrived.

Their victory was also significant because it represented their first win over Celtic since 2007.

For the home supporters, it was a memorable afternoon. For Celtic, it was a result that will require serious reflection.

CELTIC FANS DEMAND A RESPONSE

The reaction from Celtic supporters is likely to remain intense because this was not the kind of performance they expected from their team.

The frustration surrounding Carter-Vickers is understandable, but the criticism has also highlighted the need for other senior players to improve.

Supporters want to see accountability, better concentration and players who can deliver when the pressure is highest.

There is still time for Celtic to recover their position in the league, but performances like this will only make the challenge more difficult.

The champions remain four points clear at the top, although Rangers have a game in hand.

That means O’Neill’s team cannot afford to treat this defeat as an isolated disappointment.

Their next challenge will be to respond positively, particularly with a Europa League meeting against Beşiktaş approaching.

Celtic need more than promises. They need a convincing performance that restores confidence among their supporters.

And while Carter-Vickers will undoubtedly face questions about his early error, the bigger debate is now about the other players who failed to deliver when Celtic needed them most.

What do you think, Celtic fans? Was Carter-Vickers the biggest problem against Falkirk, or should other players be receiving even more criticism for their performances?
