Leeds United are preparing to approve several departures this summer as Daniel Farke looks to reshape his central midfield options, sources have told Football Insider.
Strengthening the squad remains a major priority for Farke ahead of the new season, with midfield identified as one of the key areas needing improvement. The Leeds boss is eager to bring more quality, depth, and physicality into the centre of the pitch as part of a wider squad rebuild.
To create room for incoming additions, Leeds are willing to offload a number of fringe players who have struggled for regular game time this campaign, including some current midfield options.
Although the Whites are expected to have funds available during the transfer window, the club’s strategy is likely to focus on multiple smart additions rather than spending heavily on just a few marquee signings.
Farke keen to secure Ampadu’s future
Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Farke is pushing for club captain Ethan Ampadu to sign a new contract at Elland Road.
Ampadu, whose current deal enters its final year this summer, remains one of the manager’s most trusted players and a central figure in Leeds’ long-term plans. Discussions over an extension have already taken place, with another round of talks reportedly scheduled soon.
Despite his desire to keep the Welsh international, Farke and the recruitment staff are also aware they may need a backup plan if negotiations fail to progress, including identifying a potential replacement.
Leeds targeting promising German-based midfielder
Leeds are also continuing their pursuit of Kofi Amoako, with Farke believed to be playing a major role in the chase for the highly-rated midfielder.
According to reports from Football Insider, the Leeds manager hopes to use his strong German connections to give the club an advantage over several interested Bundesliga sides.
The 21-year-old, currently with Dynamo Dresden, is viewed as a long-term investment due to the significant step up from the 2. Bundesliga to the Premier League.
Even so, Leeds remain determined to secure his signature this summer and believe he has the potential to develop into an important player in the years ahead.
